1Logic is the product of real-world challenges that demanded innovative solutions. After leading warehouse operations in a North Queensland business for 25 years, CEO Paul Heel recognized the daily frustrations, inefficiencies and inaccuracy with traditional stock operations. This led to the creation of AIMS: the Asset and Inventory Management system, a RFID-powered mobile platform, coupled with an integrated SaaS platform.

The journey to produce AIMS wasn't without its challenges, however. While RFID offered dramatic improvements in stocktake speed and accuracy, it also revealed limitations when applied to complex, high volume environments. Densely packed stock containing metals and other heavy elements can often be missed by traditional RFID scanning—a challenge faced by 1Logic’s anchor client, A1 Batterypro where the majority of stock items are lead acid batteries.

With no viable solution available in the marketplace, the only way forward was to innovate.

1Logic has developed and patented its own RFID scanning technology, capable of delivering accurate stocktakes for high volumes of stock in radio unfriendly environments. Coupled with 1Logic’s range of mobile scanners, achieving a scan throughput exceeding 1,000 items per second allows full stocktakes to be completed in minutes, not weeks.

But good inventory management is not limited to stocktakes—in fact best practice inventory management demands that all activities are controlled, automated and integrated. Stock receipts, including the onboarding of manufacturer tags, or the tagging of new items must be fully integrated with the ERP to reconcile orders with deliveries. Customer orders or stock transfer jobs must be immediately pushed to team members to fulfill, with the picked items instantly tracked against the job, and synchronised with the ERP. Each process and checklist needed to be controlled, validated and analysed. And rather than slowing down operations, the success of AIMS has been a significant, measurable increase in speed, efficiency and accuracy.
